for mitt romney. does he think he has to sit down with harry reid? i think the same for president obama. i think republicans are underestimating how strong obama will be if he is reelected. hold allhink he could the republicans against an obama version of a budget deal. i think that have more leverage over members are around campaign finance issues and other things. i think obama -- even if the democrats don't control all of congress, he would have some leverage to go around leadership. people say bipartisanship, but there are two forms of bipartisanship. one is the leadership negotiant and the other is -- the premise of both of those is, there has to be personal relationships to develop before that can occur. the ambassador pointed out that governor romney will have those talents. i think president obama knows he has them, he will just have to now demonstrate the more. >> so the reality is this, we are a few short weeks away from the real work starting. be a moment ofl real clarity after the election. we will all wake up the next morning and some will be happy and some will be sad. then t

be an interesting tactical question for romney does he have to sit down with harry reid or sit down with joe manchin and mark warner and eight others and the same for president obama. i think the republicans are underestimating how strong obama will be if he is reelected and i do not believe that john boehner can hold if he has a margin in the house i don't think that he can hold off the republicans against dan obama version of the deal. the believes are stronger than the used to be. i think that we have more leverage over members in the campaign finance issues and other things but i think obama going to the lamar alexander in the senate and there are some equivalence in the house, even if the democrats don't control both houses of congress he would have some leverage to go round the leadership and i suspect he wouldn't mind. he would feel that he is obliged to deal with him in 2013 if romney has lost but people see bipartisanship when it's a leadership negotiation and the other is picking off against the wishes of leadership but the premise on both of those is the rest of the personal relationship

either harry reid nor john boehner know how it will come out, much less mitt romney or barack obama. i am not going to pretend, other than it is going to be an all- consuming mass, which i do not think the public is ready for or has any idea is coming. i think no matter who wins the election, what happens between now and the end of the year is going to be very traumatic for the country. >> let me refined this and maybe do fred first, and then glen. sometimes, and doing some things to entitlements -- sometimes, at doing things to implements and domestic spending, it is "inevitable-- pretty inevitable. those are things a democrat will have to deal with. what are the political consequences? and on the republican side, there has to be more revenue, and defense is going to take a hit. that is going to be ugly medicine for republicans. fred, if you were sitting down with harry reid and nancy pelosi, or glen, if you were sitting down with mitch mcconnell or eric cantor, and they are about to go in the room and get a lot of blood on their hands, and the ankle deep in blood -- and be ankle-deep in
